Abdul Azziz Muhammad was born July 26, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama to his parents, Wilson and Rosetta. When he was six years old, his family moved to Queens, New York, and later to Brooklyn, where his family joined the Nation of Islam under the New York Minister Louis Farrakhan.  Grandmaster Abdul Azziz Muhammad is a graduate of Muhammad University of Islam. He graduated from MUI in New York in 1975.  He was just 8 years old when his mother joined the Nation.  He loved the training and the brotherhood so much that he wrote his letter and registered at 16 years old.  He has served in various capacities in the Nation of Islam.  He was a young Student Captain at Mosque # 7 in New York City and upon moving to Chicago at the request of The Hon Min Louis Farrakhan, he became the National Trainer of the Nation of Islam.   Once in Chicago, he soon became the First officer and then shortly thereafter, the Central Regional Captain.

 As the National Trainer he has been committed to the teaching and training of the believers in knowing how to secure themselves, family, community and Mosques and study groups.  He started the National Training Conference 29 years ago in Chicago.  It has grown from 20 participants to one thousand who come from all over the U.S., Canada, London, and the Caribbean.  It is now referred to as The International Training Conference. 

GM Abdul Azziz Muhammad is also the Student Assistant Supreme Captain of the Nation of Islam.  He has held this position for the past 9 years.   

The discipline and structure within the Nation have fostered his success in the martial arts world.  His love for both is the source of his commitment and dedication.

At eight years old, Grandmaster Abdul Azziz started boxing under the instruction of his older brother, Ronald (Dees) Muhammad. His first formal martial arts instruction was in the art of Shorin Ryu Karate.  He received his Yellow Belt in Shorin Ryu, and shortly thereafter began training under the late Doctor Moses Powell. It was in the Junior Fruit of Islam Class that he began his instruction in the art of Jiu Jitsu, literally defined as the “Gentle Art."

As a young student of the Doctor, Grandmaster Abdul Azziz's passion for training was demonstrated by him training two to three times a day. He spent so much time at the dojo that the Doctor gave him his own key. He received his Black Belt in 1975, thus making him the Doctor's youngest black belt.

Since that time, Grandmaster Abdul Azziz Muhammad has continued to train, never taking a sabbatical, and now has fifty-five years of experience within the martial arts.  Currently, Grandmaster Abdul Azziz Muhammad holds a 10th degree in Sanuces Ryu Jiu-jitsu, under the late Doctor Moses Powell; a 10th degree in Kumite Ryu Jiu-jitsu, under Soke Lil' John Davis; and a 6th degree in Vee Jitsu-Te, under the late Grand Professor Florendo Visitacion.

Grandmaster Abdul Azziz Muhammad has a long history of competitive victories in martial arts circles and has been inducted into multiple Martial Arts Halls of Fame. He is responsible for the creation and implementation of two successful Martial Arts academies: When Worlds Collide Center of the Arts in Brooklyn and United Schools of Survival in Chicago. In New York, he founded the Young Kings and Queens Military Academy in which martial arts, military drill, math, reading and dance were part of the curriculum.

Also during his time in New York, Grandmaster Abdul Azziz Muhammad owned and operated a successful security company, X-Men Security, Inc., that provided security for many of movie director Spike Lee's projects, Nu-Line Cinema, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures and the Hudlin Brother's film projects. He has provided security on movies sets of films, such as Malcolm X, Boyz in the Hood, Boomerang and House Party, to name a few. He also appeared in the movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In addition, his security work in the projects of New York gained him national notoriety. He has also worked in the New York Department of Corrections where one of his responsibilities was the training of corrections officers, police and parole officers.

He has provided personal security for President Nelson Mandela, former Chicago Mayor Harold Washington, actor/director Denzel Washington, musician Stevie Wonder, Hip Hop artist Tupac, R&B group SWV, comedian Katt Williams, and most importantly, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Grandmaster Abdul Azziz has traveled to Korea, the Caribbean Islands (Trinidad, Barbados, Bermuda and Puerto Rico), Africa, Libya, Turkey and all over the United States teaching and demonstrating, and even has students as far away as Italy. He has traveled throughout the world with the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, providing security while teaching others how to defend themselves. His students affectionately call him "GM", short for Grandmaster. His love for his people has grown over the years into a love that is exemplified by commitment and service to the brotherhood and sisterhood in his community. Besides that, Grandmaster Abdul Azziz is a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, teacher, mentor and friend to many.
